His Royal Highness, The Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh

Following the very sad news of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh dying peacefully at Windsor Castle on Friday 9th April and to quote Boris Johnson who put it so eloquently “He inspired the lives of countless young people and helped to steer the Royal Family and the monarchy so that it remains an institution indisputably vital to the balance and happiness of our national life. Prince Philip earned the affection of generations here in the United Kingdom, across the Commonwealth, and around the world and was the longest serving consort in history”. Social distancing makes it difficult to participate or express sympathy, so the County Council has opened an online book of condolence here

The Full Council Meeting and Planning Committee meetings have been postponed to Thursday 22nd after the days of public mourning are complete
